The bleeker's parrotfish is a common tropical fish in the shallow waters of reef zones and lagoons in the Indo-Pacific region. Females have a dark brown body with light bands on the sides, while males are green in color and roam the corals alone.

The bower's parrotfish is a common tropical fish from the Indo-Pacific region, found from the Philippines to the Great Barrier Reef. Recognizable by its large orange spot on the operculum and its orange and blue lines on the dorsal fin, it feeds on algae by nibbling on corals.

The captain parrotfish is distinguished by its blue-green color and slightly rounded caudal fin. It can be found around Mauritius, the Maldives, the Chagos archipelago, and more recently around Reunion Island.

The African clown wrasse, or Coris gaimard, is a solitary fish that changes color throughout its life, transitioning from orange with black and white eye spots in juveniles to a multicolored pattern in adults. Females turn into males, recognizable by the large green lines on their head. This species mainly feeds on mollusks, crabs, and hermit crabs and primarily resides in reefs.

Ctenochaetus striatus, elegantly named the "striated surgeonfish", is found in the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific, particularly in the lagoons of La Réunion and Mauritius. In Tahiti, during the full moon, this fish displays a natural spectacle: large schools form, and after a brief moment of stillness, each individual breaks away to release eggs or sperm.

The whitetail Dascyllus resides in the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region and the Red Sea. This white reef fish striped with three black bands is often found in large groups above massive colonies of staghorn corals. It feeds on zooplankton, benthic invertebrates, and algae. During the breeding season, males choose the nest and perform a dance just above it as a courtship display. The female is then invited and escorted to the nest where spawning takes place.
